Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda – gorilla numbers

Lisa (13)Stats just in from Uganda’s haven for mountain gorillas, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park re the latest numbers of individuals in each of the habituated gorilla “band’s“ (collective name for a group of gorillas) is as follows:

Buhoma region: Rushegura group (17 individuals), Habinyanja group (19 individuals & 1 new infant born last week), Mubare group (9 individuals – Kanyonye has 3 new wild gorilla females on board).

Ruhija region: Bitikura group (11 individuals) & Oruzogo group ( 22 individuals).

Rushaga region: Nshongi group (22 individuals) & Mishaya group (7 individuals).

Nkuringo region: Nkruingo gruop (18 individuals) & Kahungye group (25 individuals)

The Chargoriro or research group has 15 individuals but is only viewed by researchers.
