KIDDIES'
SAFARIS
Safari
travel has come along way and today many of the
lodges, big and small, cater for children. It
is important to check with each lodge, as not
all lodges allow children. Children’s policies
vary from camp to camp and from country to country.
Some
offer a “Family Room’, whilst others
offer an age restriction. Some have special
children’s program ( see attached) and provide
a full day’s activities enabling
the parents some time off. Which ever way, camps
are more than accommodating
and children depart with a fantastic experience
of the bush.

THE
WILDERNESS JOURNEY
Timbavati & Klaserie game reserves
OUR WILDERNESS JOURNEY
TAKES US ON A UNIQUE
PRIVATE SAFARI OF DISCOVERY THROUGH THE PRIMARY
BIG 5 WILDLIFE REGIONS OF SOUTH AFRICA.
Based
from a combination of bush camps, the trail absorbs
the many facets of animal behaviour and bush lore,
which may be overlooked by a casual observer.
As
the trails are restricted to a max of 6 participants,
a highly personalized, flexible and enlightening
wildlife experience is guaranteed. Walking trails,
game drives and night drives are all included
ensuring a collage of encounters along the way.
Each
trail is personally guided and hosted by Alan
McSmith who has had 15 years of guiding experience
in four countries in Southern Africa. We strongly
believe that the role of a professional guide
is to facilitate holistic opportunities on safari,
thereby allowing each participant to undertake
their own personal and private journey. Alan first
led safaris into the Timbavati and Klaserie in
1987 and is one of the most experienced guides
in the region.
The
term safari is derived from an Arabic word safar
meaning to journey on foot and was reputedly introduced
into the English language by the famous 19th century
explorer Richard Burton. With this spirit of African
safaris in mind, intimate locations, guiding excellence
with extensive local knowledge, the Wilderness
Journey ensures unparalleled wilderness encounters.
Essentially
the bushveld is in constant change, and your follow
up fresh tracks on foot, or heading out late at
night to find lion is all part of the philosophy.
Our excursions will be planned according to game
movements or any special interests, with exclusive
use of an open 4x4 game viewing vehicle.
Experience
at first hand the art of survival in both prey
and predator…..insight into the secret lives
of nocturnal animals….. the precise art
of tracking big game on foot….. how to locate
water in a seemingly inhospitable terrain…..

mysterious qualities….. analyse the delicate
balance of wildlife conservation in Africa…..
