Agandi
(hello) everyone
Apologies for the delay of my April news, I
have returned from visiting my fury friends in Uganda...the
mountain gorillas.
It’s been a long five months since I was last there, but
enough time to prepare for the launch of my two new
community projects.
B•I•G•G•A (Bwindi
Gorilla Guides Association) is the
second project which I am directly involved with. After
months of hard work, we have our first DVD on Bwindi
and its gorillas. This is sold in the new BIGGA shop in
an effort to raise funds for this organization and patrons.
Apart from the gorilla DVD, the shop will sell the elephant
dung postcards which will be bought from the Ishasha
community, completed by the BIGGA members!

We had a fantastic trip in March. Thank you
to everyone
who contributed soccer balls, clothing and the much
appreciated donations. Funds raised are going towards
the completion of the new curio shop at Ishasha. I
promise to keep everyone up-dated with its progress.
Look out for my KENYAN MIGRATION special
during PEAK period: 27th August - 1st September and
8th - 13th September 2008

Ishasha, located in the southern sector of the Queen
Elizabeth National Park is truly one of Uganda’s best kept
wildlife secrets. I decided to launch a community based
elephant dung paper making project; to show the locals
that they too can benefit from their nemesis and to make
sure that they realize the value of visitors to the park.
Although still in its infancy, I hope that with months to
come, we will be supplying visitors with a selection
of beautiful elephant dung cards and envelopes.
Fact File:
- The newest gorilla baby was born to the HabinyanjaFamily
on Xmas day!
- Don’t forget your poncho and rain
gear when trekkingin the rainy months!
- South African Airways now fly daily to and from
Uganda.
- The most sought after bird in Bwindi is the AfricanGreen
Broadbill.
