Another unique destination at the opposite end of the Sabi Sands is Djuma Private Game Reserve, and although April is considered to be part of the off season, Djuma lived up to its reputation for cats. 9 leopards in 48 hours, and a lioness and her cubs which totally catted-me-out!



LEOPARD FACT FILE:
Karula, Djuma's famous female leopard has successfully produced her second set of cubs. The 6 month old males can frequently bee seen feeding on kills caught by their mother.
'Disruptive colouration is the camouflage spot pattern used to "break up" the body outline of a leopard so that they blend almost perfectly into the back-ground.
In Southern Africa alone, over 2000 leopards are hunted annually.
LION SANDS FACT FILE:
Lions Sands was established in 1933 by Guy Aubrey Chaulkley and continues run by the More family today.
The Kruger National Park opened to tourists in 1927 and generated 3.00 GBP that year from three vehicles of tourists!
90% of the staff employed come from the adjacent Huntington Village.
Community based tours are also offered to the Henna Pre-School located in the this village.
