First it was the proposal to build a stadium of international standards and proportion's, then came the local protests against this proposed development, followed by a few more. Then we won the 2010 World Cup bid which paved the way for the bulldozers! If that was not enough, away went the Green Point round a bout, a few trees and our free parking areas!
Enough to send any laid-back Capetonian into a total frenzy!
But living a stones throw away from the new stadium, I have over the past two years watched this incredible piece of architecture rise from the site of the old golf course. Almost complete, it's

NEW UGANDA DEPARTURE JULY 2010
An 8th of July 2010 departure to the Bwinidi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda for a Gorilla Safari, a once in a lifetime experience has just been launched. It will coincide with the last semi final match in Cape Town.

quite spectacular and rather exciting to think that in less than 217 day's, Cape Town will be buzzing with die-hard football fans from around the globe. With views of Table Mountain and Robben Island, the stadium is perfectly positioned, close to the city center, V & A Waterfront and surrounding beaches and a host of other tourist attractions.
On the 4th December 2009 the FIFA World Cup™ will take place in Cape Town. Cape Town will welcome FIFA executives, representatives of the 32 qualifying teams, to witness the final draw for the tournament and to receive the dedicated schedules and locations for their matches.
