Red Headed Picathartes - by its nest in the caveOn a recent trip to the Dzanga-Sangha National Reserve in the Central African Republic, I was fortunate enough to see a very rare bird – the Red Headed Picathartes.

This beautiful bird nests in the rainy season, building a unique clay nest on a rock face overhang.

Patience is the key as I wait, a good few hours, for the bird’s return.

It was one of the most incredible sightings I’ve seen. What an exciting encounter!

Twitchers, eat your heart out!
